We weren’t crazy about buying a refurbished xbox system. We have always bought new electronics. But it has been performing well and seems to satisfy the kids. The controller could have been cleaned prior to shipping though. The Amazon provider drfrank, delivered on time and was helpful with questions and set up issues.

Not sure where to start here… I got mine for $40 from a friend that had the RROD problem that most Xbox 360′s seems to have. That right there is a big turn off for this system. I fixed it temporarily, but I ordered the X clamp mod to fix it permanently. (hopefully!!) I have to first say: There is no way I would have bought this system unless it was a steal of a price like $40. There are only two games I really desire on this system: Fable 2 and Star Ocean. Why Tri-Ace picked Microsoft over Sony for this game, I am not sure… Anyway so I fixed it and started playing Fallout 3 I borrowed from a friend to test the xbox. I had one big surprise with this system. As much hype as it and PS3 have as being “NEXT GEN” systems had, the XBOX did not deliver to the hype. PS3 delivered all I could want and more, outstanding graphics, good online play, don’t have problems anywhere near that of the xbox’s RROD, and of course a blu-ray player!

Now the Xbox 360 did not have good graphics in comparison to PS3. From what I see Xbox 360 comes no where near PS3 in terms of graphics. The fact that they did not include HDMI to start with is stupid, and I hear that the new ones with HDMI only have 1.2 and not 1.3. Dumb move Microsoft! Don’t get me wrong, compared to old Xbox and PS2 the graphics are really good, but for a “NEXT GEN” system it sucks in terms of graphics! Just so you all know YES I am using the Component Cables that I bought separate.

Sound is great from the cables. I have not complaints there at all. It sounded great even on my ancient surround sound system lol!

Game selection is great, but most games you can get on 360 you can get on PS3, except games like Star Ocean and Fable 2….

Online play I have not tested and I don’t plan to. I have heard that the overall experience with Live is better than PS3, but I AM NOT PAYING for Xbox Live when I already pay for internet access. You are paying them to connect to their servers and play the games you already bought! I would not have bought a PS3 if I had to pay extra to play online. Luckily Sony has their heads on straight for this one! I will NEVER PAY for Xbox Live.

The controller that came with the Xbox 360 is of course wired. I am not a fan of the controller, but it is growing on me. I can live with it, but it is a bit on the large side. Regardless not horrible and seems to be durable! I just wish I had a wireless one ;) Also I must say at first glance I was happy with Microsoft about 360 wireless controllers being cheaper than PS3, but then I looked a little harder… You have to use two AA batteries with the wireless 360 controllers. Unless you want to buy a $20 charge and play pack. Very disappointing there! I could see having the AA as backup maybe like Nyko PS3 controllers have, but as a primary they seem to suck the batteries dry real quick!

Biggest reason I like the Xbox 360 is basically the mod scene. There is so much you can mod that I can try my hardest to make lemonade out of some of the lemons Microsoft gave us. I love the fact that you can mod the DVD drive’s firmware to play backed up games! That is the biggest plus! No more buying new games because you accidentally drop them and scratch them all to heck! Games are expensive to buy too! Also the case mods are pretty awesome if you’re not afraid to solder some LCDs into place!

Overall I have enjoyed it, but it has some pretty large flaws that I did not expect out of a “NEXT GEN” system with all the hype. The next Xbox is really going to have to up the ante next time graphics wise. I know that sales of systems as far as Xbox vs PS3, Xbox is winning, but you can not sit there and tell me that Sony did not make a better quality product than Microsoft. They only implemented some new technologies in add ons or in new system models… (HD DVD and HDMI… HELLO!!!) Plus now HD DVD’s pretty much aren’t being made. Blu-ray won the battle so HD DVD add ons are now going to be collecting dust… or just playing the same movies over and over again, never being able to buy a new one. I will enjoy the system to play the games I want to play on it, but as far as online gaming: I am sticking with my PC and PS3. Call me a fan boy all you want, but I just don’t like it as much as others. Compared to a PS3, PS3 wins hands down! Graphics and technology at it’s best in a console! Like I said I enjoy those 360 exclusives, but would enjoy them more if they were PS3 exclusives, and made use of the awesome graphics of the PS3!

    UPDATE 2-17-10 ***************************************************************************************************************

I just have to say I think it is funny how my TRUTHFUL review so far has 6 votes against it. Sorry Halo fans that are upset that I’m talking up the bad points about this pointless system. Maybe if had been released by Sony or even Atari it would have been better. Heck my Atari still works and my parents bought it before I knew what video games were lol. So suck it up and take it XBOX boys! Keep marking my review as unhelpful. You are only trying to hide the truth about this crappy system that barely lasts a week for most people!

This core xbox360 has no harddrive, it can only play arcade games thats stored in it, you can’t play games exept the arcade ones, and the memory is not good. I have the other version of the xbox360 and that is perfect, it has stored arcade games, you can play alot of hot fun games, you can play the original xbox games and the graphic is more better playing it on the 360 then the first xbox, and the online is awsome, the gameplay is awsome, the graphics is awsome and you can download tv shows movies games, theres alot of hot skin covers for it, you can play songs on any game you play, you can customize and change your them like your picture frame to halo, gears of war, and all those other hot stuff, you can play demo games, you can challenge players online from the us, canada, japan, and allstralia,it has a hd dvd player that shows perfect picture, perfect surround sound, and you can watch movies and still talk online. This xbox360 core don’t have those stuff exept the aracade games but thats it but the other version has alot of awsome things so if you want a xbox360 don’t get the core one get the other version.

This bundle is excellent. Got it at a great price here through amazon. Microsoft should not call this a special edition though, because it is of no such. So the bundle is a great buy for anyone, whether you are a loyal xbox owner or a new owner this is the one to go with. Microsoft’s new JASPER models are freakin amazing! Smaller power brick, quieter/cooler, much cooler, system. Played for five hours the other day and the xbox was just warm not on fire. Overall I love this bundle. Great buy, recommended for everyone.

I played PS2 in college so purchased a PS3 when it come out and I was in graduate school. I only had two games for the PS3 for a really long time, then got Heavy Rain, and then got back into gaming and got a bunch more PS3 games. I wanted to play some of the XBOX 360 exclusives so got this elite edition with splinter cell. I was torn between getting the cheaper Spring bundle with Halo and the racing game, and this one. I really wanted the two controllers, and Splinter Cell looked cooler then Halo, and I already have a racing game for PS3 so that seemed redundant.

I think the 360 is great and recommend having both the 360 and the PS3 to anyone seriously interested in gaming. I’ve really enjoyed Splinter Cell and the 360 controller is great for first person shooters as noted in several comparisons between the systems — the triggers feel like gun triggers. I play Splinter Cell on the 360 and am still working through Uncharted 2 and FF13 on my PS3. I am definitely going to get some more games for the 360 — Mass Effect 2 and other XBOX exclusives. For multiplatformers, I lean towards 360 for shooters and similar (e.g. Red Dead Redemption) and PS3 for strategy and RPGs.

I give this 360 only 4 of 5 stars because of some minor glitches — I was getting a disc read error whenever I first opened this thing and tried to play Splinter Cell. I thought I might have needed to return the disc, but then I went to the support website as prompted by my 360 and went through their steps — after resetting the cache for the 360 Splinter Cell worked fine. It crashed once while restarting one of the missions after dying, but that does not seem to be a recurring problem, the game is probably more reliable now that I installed it to the hard drive. Which is another reason this bundle is great — its best to install as many games as possible to the hard drive, so its good to have 250 GB available for this.

Don’t get me wrong, PS3 has nice exclusives, but I was very tempted to get a XBOX 360, and I finally did. I was trying to decide between this and the XBOX FFXIII bundle, but I already had the FFXIII game for PS3 so I went with this one.

Well, definitely the XBOX has some nice features and exclusives that I couldn’t get with the PS3. I ordered a bunch of XBOX 360 exclusives with this bundle and I am glad I did. I am starting Forza 2 and Fable II right now and I realize how much fun I was missing. The feel of the XBOX controls is also much better than the PS3 controls.

Wouldn’t say that one console is better than the other. Both of them have cool features. Now that I own both, I have the best of two worlds.

Shipping was free and fast through Amazon. It arrived on the estimated delivery date. Very pleased so far. Got the TS intercooler and it works like a charm!

Probably the best console system + bundle Ive purchased. I was considering the new slim model but actually prefer the matte finish (and price) of the older Elite. Im a PC gamer by heart, have owned a PS3 system shortly but could not get used to the controller. I like the 360 controller much better, perfect in my hands. Ive heard many horror stories regarding the Xbox systems. I just finished Splinter Cell Conviction (couple of hours a day, awesome game!) and did not run into any heat or noise issues, the system runs warmish and fan noise is minimal. Im late getting into this generation of consoles but I think this a great time to buy the system because of the huge library of games and recent price drops.
