Ninety-Nine Nights II For Xbox 360

This game starts with our main character’s story, namely Galen who face the reality that their homes had been destroyed were attacked by “The Lord of the Night” and his army. For revenge, the troops walked Galen the Lord of the Night and try to beat it. That said, The Lord of the Night must be defeated before the end of the night the 99th, or he can not be defeated at all. So Galen should strive to keep the whole world does not suffer the same fate with the city of residence.

In his journey, he meets a princess named Sephia who helped Galen to beat The Lord of the Night. In addition, Galen also met with three other characters that help to maintain world peace. Do not worry this game beginning of the night to 92, so we do not have to go through 99 chapters to be able to finish this game. Now, on to the review!

Gameplay: 5 / 10

Ninety Nine Nights 2 has a gameplay system that is very easy to play, namely Hack and Slash. Existing control scheme looks quite simple; we can press the X button for light attack, Y for a heavy attack, a button for jump and B to perform a signature move. Also we can do dodge and guard by pressing the RT and LT. Meanwhile, RB buttons to perform a special attack is useful when combined with the key of A, B, X or Y. LB button has a function to do the Orb Spark (typical super stance beat em up game that can kill many enemies in a moment). This stance can be made at the time the Orb Spark Bar is fully charged, so use this moment wisely.

By using the capabilities possessed by each of the characters there, all the enemies can be dealt with easily, we can even kill the enemy with light and heavy attack capitalize only. However, all that did not make this game easy to play. The enemies in this game has the AI is pretty weak, but they have some pretty annoying attacks. For example, the type of enemy archer could shoot arrows from a great distance, thus disturbing the movement of our character is jumping or doing combos. While the large size of the enemy can strike far all the characters that are in scope, so we bounced down affected the characters drift due to his own beat.

Like the game that has a beat-em-up genre of others, of course, we must fight the enemy in large quantities which appear on the screen. Only, in this game versus the enemy that we must look very much, they even continued to appear on the battlefield out of nowhere. Although the enemy can attack finished off with a couple of times only, sometimes they swarm of characters we use, and attacked suddenly that our character bouncing away. In addition, the number of enemy characters that sometimes gets in the way we are, so the attack should be directed to the boss characters are forced to on the small enemies that block the road.

One factor is quite annoying in this game is the camera controls are not so good. Often we find it difficult to see the enemy after we bounced down due to enemy attack. This causes the character we are often killed with useless because it was attacked from the direction that is not seen (or should be visible when the camera control better). On Ninety Nine Nights 2, we can heal ourselves by taking healing pots scattered in several places at each stage. Only healing items can not be carried, thus wasted if located away from the boss character. In addition, the amount of healing items in this game are very low, so do our characters are rarely killed in when searching for healing items that are located far away in a corner of a stage and closely guarded by the enemy that much (grr. .. this is Madness). If our character was killed in a beat-em-up game, we must rely on our character checkpoint to return to the battlefield. Unfortunately Ninety Nine Nights 2 has a checkpoint system which is very bad. We had to repeat nearly half of the game when we killed before finding a boss character. So, try to stay alive as much as possible, or try to be patient in facing the reality that our character was killed and we have to repeat the game about 20 to 30 minutes.

This game has five distinct characters of Galen, Sephia, Maggni, Zazi, and Levv. All of these characters look quite different, but the actual difference is only the appearance and movement of every step that they have. Each character has a signature move that is different, but the function of a signature move is not important. For example, the signature moves of Galen’s works to destroy the pillars that block the road. Most of the signature move of the other characters look pretty useful, but does not affect the game significantly. All the characters in this game has a way different story, it’s just that each stage is passed by the characters tend to be similar. So even though we live a different story, we’ll keep repeating the same stage repeatedly.

Ninety Nine Nights 2 has a few RPG elements that can be accessed at the intermission. At the moment we will embark on a mission, we will get the option to change the costumes and weapons, put on accessories, to raise the level of each of the characters. Statistics that can be raised in this game is the HP, attack and special attack. While to equip, we can replace weapons, accessories also add to the skill with which we get during the game lasts. Skills in this game are divided into two groups: active and passive skills. Active skills are skills that can be activated by pressing the RB button and a combination of A, B, X or Y. Passive skills while directly active at the time we installed accessories that contain these skills.

Despite having RPG elements, this game remains the core of the old school beat em ups like Dynasty Warriors series. So for us who do not want to think too much in playing this game, we can ignore or equipment upgrades and competed directly to the battlefield. Just beat! Spartaaaaaaaaaaa! (Whew, I got carried away).

Graphics: 7 / 10

Like other games Next-gen, Ninety Nine Nights 2 has a fairly good graphics quality. Texture of each character looks quite good on screen, although the details are not too visible. Frame rate of this game runs smoothly even though there are hundreds of enemies are in a stage. Each of us killing the enemy, there is some blood splash screen adorned. Rather dramatic indeed, unfortunately, sometimes sprinkling blood covered the existence of a small enemy sometimes not visible due to the effect of camera movement is not good.
The design of each character is in this game quite interesting. Galen the main character looks very fierce with gray armor and white hair shining. Likewise with other characters like the Sephia with a costume that is quite unique. The design of the monsters in this game also looks quite good, only because of the large number of enemies that appear, this monster design looks boring. That’s because the same type of monster will continue to appear over and over again.
Special effects in the time to do a special move or super move looks really good, it’s just that sometimes looks very powerful movement that is not too much effect on the boss character.

Although we attack the character with the Orb Spark boss, the boss is sometimes seen standing upright just like not being attacked by anything. Well, maybe just the boss character was injured in, so it would not have disappointed yes (trying to be optimistic). This game has some glitch from the environment which is sometimes quite visible, but it’s not really affecting the quality of graphics of this game.

Sound: 7 / 10

Sound in this game sounds pretty good, but do not have something that stands out and becomes the advantages of this game. The quality of voice acting in this game sound casual, but not bad. Well, because the main character in this game had a dark past, no wonder his voice did not show emotion. BGM is adequate in accordance with the theme of Ninety Nine Nights 2 is nuanced medieval.
Sound effect that there is a state of war in this game sounds very lively. Swords clashing voices sounding so loud, so did the shouts of the enemy’s guns blow killed, has the character that we use. In this game, even the sound of rain rintikan sounded pretty clear. Quality of sound effects and BGM is good to mask the quality of the mediocre voice acting, so the sound quality in this game as a whole to be pretty good.

Longevity: 7 / 10

The existence of leveling feature in this game makes this game should be played repeatedly to get enough points to upgrade. In addition, the repeat levels in this game seemed quite necessary, because we can get the accessories that may be left on when we beat the enemy busy. Each character has a different storyline, and if we want to play all the scenarios, probably will spend quite a lot.
This game also features online multiplayer which is quite unique. This mode has several types of games such as survival mode and so forth. But the multiplayer feature is a pleasant enough fashion Maze, where we and our friends are required to cooperate in solving the puzzle and beat the enemy there.

In online multiplayer mode, we can use our characters with the same stats and equipment with the single player mode. So to those who want to play online multiplayer mode, we should raise our level and statistics of characters in single player mode first. Well, with this mode, it seems the gameplay of this game is not too boring to play.

Editor’s Tilt: 5 / 10

Game genres were beat-em-up is suitable to be played as stress relievers or in time we do not want a lot of thought to play a game. We just stayed sitting in front of the console and beat the enemies that appear on the screen. Only, Ninety Nine Nights 2 has many shortcomings, which may increase our stress levels.

Number of enemies that adorned each stage is coupled with a poor camera control makes our character is in an unfavorable situation at any time. There is lack of healing items and checkpoint system which requires us to repeat this game from afar makes me feel condemned when playing this game and was killed before finding a checkpoint (maybe you know it, hiks).

Although this game have many characters, but the lack of variations of each scenario from the stage to make these characters seem quite boring to be repeated. Fortunately, this game has RPG elements and online features attractive, so this game feels more than just a game beat-em-up ordinary. In closing, this game is indeed quite different from the game beat-em-up ordinary, because we have to think hard to survive in this game, either from enemy attack or the boredom that continues to haunt the time to repeat the same level. Try it and enjoy the game.
